Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Originally from Worthington Ohio, she dropped out of high school to move to Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. Though she struggled financially in 2001, her debut came as Rachel's Room's principal character. She went on to earn a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002, for her role as 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder set in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford was the character Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons of 2004 and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award (with all the other actors) alongside her. Leaving the series Grace wanted to appear on film more frequently, having been cast as the opposite of Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She has appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 and Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. The role was reprised in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is a modern version of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace was back on the Lost series for the last two episodes, playing Shannon. In 2013 she appears in the sixth season of Californication. The character she plays is Faith as the muse and fan of the actors. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. She is part of the Gyllenhaal clan and the younger sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her acting career started as a teenager as she was cast in minor parts in a few films directed from her father. She also worked with her brother in the 2001 cult movie Donnie Darko. The year 2002 saw her appeared as a character on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. The actress also starred on Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performance in the erotic romantic comedy Secretary (2002) and in the drama Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her an Golden Globe Award nomination. She starred in several films that were commercially successful, including World Trade Center. However it was her performance in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). As the single mother in Crazy Heart (2009) she got a nomination in the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. After that, she went on to play in comedies as well as dramas such Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (12). Her other roles are as an agent of The Secret Service in White House Down 2013. She also appeared singing in Frank 2014 and as a singer the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, in which she plays the main role. Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a director and writer in 2021, with the drama about psychological issues The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and received nominations for the Academy Award.
